Day 7

Well, it’s really day 5. Michael was at the block on Friday just after lunch, and nothing has changed, so it’s “Before Lunch on Day 5″ photos… but Day 7 sounds luckier.

We have our pipes in the ground, all covered up, and ready for the slab to be prepared and poured later this week. Our pile of grey stuff has even shrunk too.

Our next door neighbours have flipped their plans over, so their driveway is actually the same side as ours - which looks OK based on their block progress so far - as their house looks to have its backyard actually at the back (rather than the side like ours) so our outdoor area should remain pretty private.

So, enjoy the progress so far!

Day 4… let the digging begin

Now up first, apologies for the crappy photos - clearly the iPhone doesn’t match up against my D-SLR. But alas, it was all I had with me so it will do.

This was a totally unplanned trip - traffic in peak hour flew by so I had 30 minutes to spare before my 6:15 Attack so thought I’d detour to the left and go to check on the block.

And we have digging - our lovely flat block is now dug up, with pipework being laid - definately looks like we’re on track for next Wednesday’s launch day.

The key lesson learnt here… keep a better camera handy…

Day 3

It’s day 3… with a wet week planned, we thought we’d take a look at what’s happened since Monday, especially given Tuesday’s stormy weather.

And our scraping… sorry Matt, our “benching”… has been completed, and deposited with a mount of grey stuff. From looking at some of the other blocks, we’re guessing this is placed over the site when pipes have been laid - so that must mean we should be seeing pipes when we next get to the block over the weekend.

So we still appear to be on schedule for our 2nd September slab laying, so fingers crossed the weather holds up - today was forecast for cool with showers and wind, but yet only had a brief drizzle surrounded by sunshine - so let’s keep it up!

It’s strange though, the block next to us (1318) started before us but looks to have hit a stump and not done any work except the benching and a fence - so will be interesting to see how it progresses. We also saw that 1319 has been benched, so a set of 3 blocks will be going up around the same time.

So new on our block today was, apart from our mound of grey stuff, the important pieces - a toilet.

Enough chit-chat… photo time!

Day 1

It’s here… day 1 - our site start happened today, Monday 24th August.

Given I had the day off from work, Mikey and I decided to go for a drive to Point Cook for lunch, and not only did we see our scraped site, but we got to watch them scrape our site.

The workers probably were wondering who the weird guy was taking photos, but that would have been me.

With wild weather forecast this week, it will be interesting to see how it all progresses, with our slab date scheduled for September 2nd, which is Wednesday week.
