We’re sorry but…

…the tiles that you selected as your floor tiles 4 months ago have been discontinued…  WHAT!!!

I could rant on for ages about how angry we were about receiving this phone call, but I wont.

Yesterday afternoon we went to National Tiles (Frank Walker is lucky he wasn’t around) to select some new floor tiles.  I guess the good news out of this is that we had our tiles upgraded for the inconvenience, and we’re really happy with the new ones (Brad they’re the same as your tiles!).  It was quite a process and took just as much time as when we originally selected our tiles.  We had all the tiles, carpet sample and kitchen bench sample all on the table, but something didn’t quite work, it was the brown wall tiles for the bathrooms (see the original selection).  We changed these to a grey colour and it works much better.  It changes the look of the bathrooms a bit but we still love it.

Here are the new tiles.  Floor (bottom left), Bathroom walls (bottom right, replaces the brown), Bathroom wall (top) and our Red Glass feature tiles for the Ensuite Niche.

Stay tuned tomorrow for the Bedroom 4 window saga, and news of our new start date (and yes I had to ask for this information too!!!!).

A tap is better then nothing.

Even though we knew the house wasn’t starting yesterday (but lets not talk about that!) we still went for our weekly Saturday drive to Point Cook to see what’s going on.  To our surprise we now have a front water tap and a water meter…  Better then nothing I guess.

We also noticed that a few other blocks have started getting their sites ready, including our next door neighbour (to the left).  The seem to have scraped their entire block right up to our boundry.  It will be interesting in the next few weeks to see what kind of house is being built.  Hopefully not a double story house.

It’s a nice day for building a house…

…shame it won’t be ours.

I went to pick up of final plans yesterday, which were still wrong, and found out that our house will not be starting today as planned.  I know things happen and dates can change, but I had to ask the question “so we won’t be starting tomorrow?” in order to find out.  I feel that this information should be communicated (but we know communication is not their strong point).  Apparently our file will be handed over to the site supervisor next week then its generally a week later that we start.  Fingers crossed.

Two weeks ago I found out (not from PD of course) that our assigned SS was leaving.  Since then 3 times I’ve asked via email what happens now and who our SS will be, and yesterday when I was in at PD I asked again.  They still don’t know who will be looking after our build.  Lets hope they get this sorted out soon, because frankly its not our problem and if we have known for 2 weeks how long have they known for?

grumble grumble grumble.

There’s movement at the station…

Today on our weekly drive out to look at our patch of grass we noticed that 2 blocks in our area have started building.  Damn!  We thought we might be the first!  This time next week ours would have started too.  I wonder how many more…

We also went past another Regent 23 being built a few streets away.  They’re building with the same Brown Terrain bricks as us.  They look great.  It seems to take about a week for the brick work as last week the brick had been delivered, but not started.  This week they’re just about done.

We’re on the map…

Well kind of…

Google Maps now knows where our house will be but it doesn’t show the street name as yet.  Don’t bother with the Satellite view as it still shows as an empty paddock.  Come on Google update your images already!!!

Only 12 days till they start!
