Project Regent

Well today was an exciting day.  We received the call saying that handover has been booked in for Friday December 11.  This is right on (our) schedule, so in 11 days we’ll have the keys to our new home!

I spent a bit of time on the phone today booking in fences, blind and shutter installation and a cat door for Hamish.  We’ve also found a landscaper we like and we’re meeting him on the weekend to finalise the plans and book everything in.  Before we move in we’ll have the driveway and fences done.  We should also have a good start on the landscaping before Christmas.  Tomorrow I’ll be onto the water tank people to get that sorted.

Removalists were booked last week for the 19th.  Now we just have to tackle the packing here!!!

It seems that Porter Davis have that seventh sense that we all wish we had - the ability to see into the future.  I logged into the 24/7 system today to see that it says our Frame Stage is complete.  I know the carpenters have been working hard this week, but it seemed a little unbelievable that the frame could already be complete.  Upon further investigation I saw that the date for frame complete is the 18th September, 2 days away.  Regardless its exciting to know that at the end of the week we’ll have a complete house frame with windows and roof trusses…

Yes thats right we have a new site start date.  Its this coming Monday August 24th!  Its in the PD system so lets hope it stays there and we do start on Monday.

What about the window issue I hear you say?  Well I won’t go into it but its all sorted and we got what we wanted, or should I say back to the way it is on their stock-standard floor plan.

…shame it won’t be ours.

I went to pick up of final plans yesterday, which were still wrong, and found out that our house will not be starting today as planned.  I know things happen and dates can change, but I had to ask the question “so we won’t be starting tomorrow?” in order to find out.  I feel that this information should be communicated (but we know communication is not their strong point).  Apparently our file will be handed over to the site supervisor next week then its generally a week later that we start.  Fingers crossed.

Two weeks ago I found out (not from PD of course) that our assigned SS was leaving.  Since then 3 times I’ve asked via email what happens now and who our SS will be, and yesterday when I was in at PD I asked again.  They still don’t know who will be looking after our build.  Lets hope they get this sorted out soon, because frankly its not our problem and if we have known for 2 weeks how long have they known for?

grumble grumble grumble.

We just received some exciting news from PD.  They’ve been able to bring our start date forward by 2 weeks to the 14th August.  Thats super exciting!!!

There is a very small chance of bringing it forward again, but no guarantee.
